State Of The Union.

So I took some time before making this post to really think about what the President said during the SOTU. We all know that our country is slowly recovering and that we would like for things to be much better . But the reality of it all is that is still work to be done. I noticed that the "glow" of the President isn't the same, but I think people forget that the US isn't a dictatorship. The president must work hand and hand with Congress in order to get things done.

But that can't be achieved if Congress continues to make stupid decisions like voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act 40 something times. I know there are plenty of people who don't like the law, but its better then what we had and to this day, NO ONE from either party has provided an alternative...so lets stop wasting time and money and just rock with it. Of course suggestions and changes will happen along the way, but I think its safe to say the US won't fall from our great graces to because of this law.

To me, the speech sent a reminder to America that this is the land of opportunity and we as a nation must be willing to help each other in order to succeed. So that means, not waiting on the government to force you to pay your employees better and that Congress needs to jump on the band wagon and pass the now unfunded unemployment insurance for those who need it. This must be the year to get active and take action, because only together can we make achievements that will help generations to come.

(ps. I can't take VP Biden!! lol #weak)

Blue x Moon

Lately its been freezing around here... | literally the temperature was 6 degrees F |…so I thought it would be quit appropriate break out this bad boy. I found this furry love in my mothers wonderful closet! Ugh I love going shopping in her closet, I always find the best thing to take my outfit to the next level.

The cold winter has a way of making you feel "blaahh". But, I think color in the winter allows you to standout. The easiest way to achieve this is by having a statement coat.  Whether its a mid-length fur like the one I'm wearing or a wool trench style coat (recently seen on Kim K.) a great coat can BE the outfit

Kiss Me Sugar!

I have to share this great find with everyone. With recent weather being extra cold, sometimes freezing, this little beauty is there to save the day! SKIN LOGICS -- Lip Apeel ( see link to order)

This is a lip mask and lip balm combination.  Perfect for cracked dry lips, this lip treatment will give you smooth kissable lips in minutes!

After cleaning your face, using your index finger, apply the mask evenly across the upper and lower lip.

Once on the lips, let the mask set for about 2-5 minutes. The mask will appear to crack and thats a good thing!

Next use a warm rag to remove the mask from your lips. Then apply a good amount of the lip balm to refresh and moisturize the lips.

After

Its amazing what a few minutes with a mask can do to your lips.

Girls Love Younce

Beyonce's surprise visual album shocked the world with its Friday the 13th midnight release. Being the trendsetter she is, Beyonce released the first "visual album" with 14 songs and 17 videos. Leaving her fans and competitors amazed by the level of creativity and privacy she was able to do with her latest self titled. Possibly one of her biggest projects to date, Beyonce was able to achieve the unachievable, no leaks and no press stumps, but an online [only] #1 album.

I love everything about this new visual album because I'm a little ratchet...highly educated..but ratchet. But to be frank..I was getting bored with Beyonce's work *Ekkk!!!!* DON'T SHOOT ME!! I know your thinking how could I say such a thing? Well because Beyonce said it too! lol. Nevertheless, I must say I love the artistic view she gives in each song/video. With that said, Beyonce recently produced a mini documentary self-titled on YouTube. In the 5 part series, she walks the viewer through the process of recording 80 songs and narrowing it down to the 14 we have today. She also talks about the pressure she felt to be responsible for a much younger audience, and how it held her back creatively. But through this process she ultimately overcame her fear of backlash in order to show a new side...thus, the birth of Yonce!

Comment below and tell me what you think of the series
Below is the link to Part 1 of the series on YouTube:

Get Connected: Lets Talk Politics

Moving UP:
Yesterday (Monday),  Congressman Mel Watt (D-NC) became the chief of overseeing the Federal Housing Fiance Agency. Why is this is important? Because this Finance Agency maintains the balance of the housing fiance system. Not to mention the loans given by our good ole friends..BFF's Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac!! (lol) Furthermore, Rep.Watt was a member of the House Financial Service Committee, since 1992. Rep.Watt played a vital role in passing the Dodd-Frank Act, which allowed consumer protections to be increased, making room for legislation to end bad lending practices in the real estate market.
My guess is that this move shows good things to come. One can only hope that such an influential person will be able to make amazing strides.

Get Yo Money Right:
In case you've been living under a rock, the U.S. has been having some budget issues lately. As a result of different views for solving these issues, we have experienced the Fiscal Cliff, Sequestration, and more recently the stupid Government Shutdown. -_____-
So, to avoid monstrous acts like those mentioned above from happening again, our congressional members have agreed to work on a "balanced approach" of getting the U.S. books together...aka..getting our money right! However, lawmakers have to stay in the spending limits within the budget agreement, HR Res.59 AND  get it all done by next Wednesday, Jan. 15.2014.

...fingers crossed?

NYE 2014...Let's Get Started.

Welcome to Bella Bombay! This is my first post and I'm super excited to share all my the tips and great finds with everyone!

For NYE, I went to dinner at a cute little Italian restaurant called Paper Moon in Georgetown D.C.. It was very festive, live music, party favors, 3 course meal and complimentary champagne toast for $50.00. The lovely price was complimented by the amazing food and great bottle of wine!!

Classic me, I was running late for our dinner reservations so here are a few pics from the night. I am wearing a faux fur coat with leather sleeves, cream quilted top and plaid leggings from Topshop, my necklace and rings are from Aldo Accessories, and my watch and bag are Michael Kors.

NYE 2014 was a good a night. Now I have to make this year count and so do you! If you have goals or resolutions...commit and see it through!!!
